    Opinions - NY Daily News

This month, New York State approved 17 new city charter schools to open over the next few years. Sadly, they could be among the last. Sometime early in 2015, New York State will have to stop approving new charters. That’s not because these schools haven’t proven themselves (their achievement often far exceeds the districts they reside in). It’s not because there isn’t enough demand (50,000 families are on waitlists).

    25 Oct 2014 | 12:00 am
New Paltz, N.Y.: We watch Canada’s capital being shut down by another terrorist attack by another recent convert to Islam, and President Obama refers to it as “senseless violence.” We’ve also seen the killing of an Army recruiter in Arkansas, the Fort Hood massacre, the Boston marathon bombing and more. I realize that not all Muslims support this, but enough do to keep ISIS supplied with new recruits and to radicalize Muslims in our country. Saying these attacks have nothing to do with Islam is like saying Catholicism had nothing to do with the Spanish Inquisition. John Habersberger
