    28 Jan 2012 | 5:00 am

  • Luke Perry in ‘Goodnight for Justice: The Measure of a Man’

    28 Jan 2012 | 5:00 am
Like many sequels, “The Measure of a Man” doesn’t quite measure up to its predecessor, and as with many sequels, some of the reasons aren’t its fault. The freshness and some of the pleasant surprises, by definition, are lost on the second go-round.

  •  Jan. 28: President Obama, Joe Paterno and God

    28 Jan 2012 | 3:04 am
Manhattan: When I saw film footage of the staff of the sinking Costa Concordia on the Italian coast — many of whom didn’t seem to know what they were doing, especially Capt. Francesco Schettino — I was strongly reminded of widespread accounts of questionable behavior by twin towers security staff on 9/11. According to many accounts of that day (from the south tower especially), they were telling people who had left their offices to go back inside. I worked for more than 20 years at the World Trade Center as a secretary, and I would have definitely ignored that advice.

Why do they call it Queens, anyway? New data confirm what many a down-on-his-luck young Flushing guy surely suspects every Saturday night as he checks, for the third time, to make sure there’s nothing in his teeth: The borough is a damn tough place for young single men looking for a date.
